ODE will call the school or school district registrar’s office to verify the “authenticity” of the student’s record.ODE will obtain the name and contact information of the registrar or the person who verified the documents. ODE only verifies records for K-12 students.

ODE creates a cover letter that states the student’s name and type of document(s) that were authenticated. The letter includes the school name, district name, and the name and contact information of the registrar who verified the documents.

ODE’s signature on the cover letter is the record certifying to its authenticity. This signature must be notarized.
